The Football League Third Division is the third tier in the England football league system in the 1920/21 season and from 1958 to 1992. Between 1921 and 1958 , the Third Division was divided into the Third Northern Division and the Third Southern Divisions . After the founding of the Premier League, it became the fourth most important division. After the Championship was created in the 2004/05 season, the Third Division of the Football League became known as Football League 2 (currently - League 2 of the English Football League).
