Content
Etymology
The name comes from the surname of the Mamedbagyrlylyar clan [1] . Translated into Russian - Middle Laki.
History
The first mentions of the village are dated by the beginning of the 20th century.
In 1926, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Azerbaijan SSR, the village belonged to the Dair Karkar of the Agdam district [2] .
After the reform of the administrative division and the abolition of the counties in 1929, the Afatlinsky Village Council was formed in the Agdam district of the Azerbaijan SSR .
According to the administrative division of 1961 and 1977, the village of Mamedbagyrly was a member of the Afatli village council of the Agdam region of the Azerbaijan SSR [3] [4] .
In 1999, an administrative reform was carried out in Azerbaijan and the Afatli municipality of the Agdam region was established, where the village entered [5] .
Geography
Not far from the village flows the river Karkarchay .
The village is located 15 km from the district center Agdam , 33 km from Kuzanly and 360 km from Baku . The nearest train station is Agdam.
