The inscription on the pedestal

The idea of creating and installing a monument to the cinematographer Alexander Khanzhonkov belongs to the journalist Lyubov Surkova [5] . She turned to the city administration with such a proposal - and there the idea found support. Work began on the sketches. Two final sketches were created and one of them was put into practice. Sergey Oleshnya became the sculptor [4] , the pedestal was made by Yuri Yakovlevich Dvornikov [5] , however, in addition to them, other architects and sculptors were involved [4] .

The place for the installation of the sculpture was not chosen by chance: it is located opposite the building of the St. Andrew’s Gymnasium, in which the director and screenwriter Khanzhonkov studied, a film studio is located near this place [2] . Alexander Khanzhonkov also has two memorial plaques installed: on the school building, where the director studied and where he first saw the movie.

The figure of Khanzhonkov with an old movie camera was cast in bronze. The height of the pedestal is two meters, the height of the sculpture is 2.5 meters. The opening of the monument took place on the first day of the international festival of motivational cinema Bridge of Arts [3] . The opening of the sculpture was attended by actresses Irina Bezrukova and Irina Babenko, TV presenter Dmitry Dibrov , producer Alan Depardieu [2] .
