Biography
Calleri was a professional soccer player. Pupil of the Piedmontese team "Bachigalupo." He played for Novara and Monza. The whole season was considered a player of the Roman "Lazio", but never made his debut in the first team.
In 1975, Gianmarco Calleri, under the pseudonym Marco Reims, took part in the filming of Mauro Macario's film “Why Are You Killing?”, Where Maurice Rone , Leonora Fani and Beba Lonchar became his partners on the set [1] .
Having completed the player’s career at a young age, Gianmarco becomes a successful entrepreneur and owner of a number of companies. A special place in his business career was taken by football. From 1983 to 1985, Calleri was president of the Alessandria Football Club.
In 1986, Lazio was on the verge of collapse and exile in the lower leagues. Local authorities turned to Gianmarco Calleri with a request to lead the “Biancolest” in such a difficult period. Together with his brother Giorgio and the Roman financier Renato Brocci, he bought out the club and headed it as president. He was a wealthy man, but could not overspend. Therefore, he restored the financial condition of the club and replenished its budget with unpopular measures. In particular, he had to part with a number of leading players and favorites of the public. For example, when Calleri was sold at Juventus , Paolo Di Canio . On the other hand, in 1992, Gianmarco sold the Sergio Craniotti club a much more successful and well-standing club than the one that was at the time of his arrival. [2]
Having briefly left active football life, Calleri reappeared in 1994, becoming the president of Torino . With him, the team did not achieve significant success, and in 1997 Gianmarco left his post when the Turin left Italy’s highest football world.
In 1998, he led the Swiss FC Bellinzona , which he directed until 2001.
After unsuccessful attempts to buy Genoa in 2003 and return to Lazio in 2004, Calleri decided to retire, leaving his son Riccardo at the head of Gea World . [3]
