Mikhailovsky (ZATO)

ZATO - the village of Mikhailovsky [2] - an administrative-territorial unit ( closed administrative-territorial formation ) and a municipal formation ( urban district ) in the Saratov region of Russia . The administrative center is the village of Mikhailovsky .

Geography

Closed administrative-territorial formation - the village of Mikhailovsky is located in the east of the region, on the territory of the Krasnopartizansky district . ZATO is surrounded on all sides by the Gornovsky MO . The village of Mikhailovsky is located 4.6 km from the working village of Gorny - the center of the Krasnopartizansky district [3] .

The villages of Mikhailovsky and Novooktyabrsky, which are part of the ZATO, are located at a distance of 15 km from each other [4] .

The closed administrative-territorial formation was formed on the basis of Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of November 13, 2003 No. 1347 “On the transformation of the villages of Mikhailovsky and Novooktyabrsky of the Saratov region into a closed administrative formation of the settlement of Mikhailovsky of the Saratov region” from the newly built villages of Novooktyabrsky and Mikhailovsky protective zone for the safe operation of the facility for the destruction of stockpiles of toxic substances, ensuring the required mode of operation and eco-friendly logical security.

On December 19, 2002, the industrial destruction of chemical weapons began; by December 25, 2005, all toxic substances (mustard gas, lewisite, double and triple mixtures) were destroyed [5] .

The following social facilities were erected as part of the chemical weapons destruction program: a village for doctors and teachers, war and labor veterans, which includes 77 two- and single-family houses, 6 multi-apartment residential buildings for residents of the village, an outpatient diagnostic and consultation center. The reconstruction of the central district hospital has been completed. The construction of a house of culture and cinema is underway [6] .

By a decree of the President of Russia dated 10.15.2018 No. 587, a closed administrative-territorial formation - the village of Mikhailovsky in the Saratov Region was abolished on January 1, 2019 [7] .
