Biography

Born in the family of a priest. He graduated from the Totem Theological College, the Vologda Theological Seminary (1895). He worked for a year as a teacher at the Ugryuminsky parish school in Totem Uyezd .

In 1896 he entered the medical faculty of the Imperial University of Tomsk , but in 1899 he was expelled for participating in a student strike. A year later he managed to recover at the University and complete his education (1902).

After graduating from university, he worked as a resident of the hospital of Tomsk transit prison. In June 1903 he was elected to the post of doctor of the 4th city medical station with the head of the city hospital for infectious patients. For several years he was the only doctor in this institution, which is why the hospital was called in life "Sibirtseva hospital". He was re-elected to this post in 1907 and 1911, then continued to remain in it until 1936, when due to health reasons he moved to interns, practiced medical practice until the end of his life, led a private appointment in his apartment, went to patients' homes and rural areas. He acted as a mentor to young professionals.

A new hospital building was built under the leadership of Sibirtsev. In 1933, the hospital, which became contagious, was officially named after him.

He taught hygiene and the rules of first aid in courses for teachers of public schools (1916-1918), from 1923 to 1932 and from 1939 to 1946 he taught at Tomsk University (after the reorganization - Tomsk Medical Institute), assistant of the department of infectious diseases.

He was elected the vowel of the Tomsk City Duma (1910), worked in the Duma executive commissions. In Soviet times, he was a deputy of the Tomsk City Council, the Tomsk Regional Council of Workers' Deputies (since 1947). Chairman of the Audit Commission of the Medical Workers Union. For 10 years he was an expert in the medical control and medical conflict committee of the health department of the Tomsk city executive committee.

Memory

A monument to G. E. Sibirtsev (1967) was erected on the territory of the Tomsk Infectious Disease Hospital [1] .
