History

Debut

Sukima Switch was formed after Ohashi asked Tokita to arrange his own song. Their live performance began in Shinjuku and Shibuya in 1999. Their performance in front of 30,000 people was a huge success and through their local channels their fan base increased. Their main debut took place in July 2003 with their first single “view”. The track spread widely in 30 radio stations across the country, and their debut mini-album, released in September, also showed a high level of sales, given that they were new to the music scene.

Releases

Their second single, “Kanade,” was released in March 2004, and took 22nd place on Oricon. This song became the duo's best-selling single. In June, the third single, “Furete Mirai wo,” and their first album, “Natsugumo Noise,” were released simultaneously. A year after their debut, the first album finished second on the Oricon album chart, recording the hit album on the first try. Tickets for the first round of "Natsugumo No Tabi ~ Nihon Cowan ~" were completely sold out the next day. Their fourth single, Fuyu no Kuchibue, released during their tour, finished sixth on the Oricon charts. The single "Zenryoku Shonen" released in April 2005 took third place on the Oricon chart, and the subsequent single "Ame Machi Kaze", released in June, also ranks seventh. Their second album, released in July, "Kusou Klip," was the number one hit on the Oricon album charts. Their first 2006 release is the song for the new Doraemon animation of the film Doraemon to Nobita Not Kyouryu 2006. Sukima Switch is similar to American jazz band Steely Dan. The Japanese audience really liked the duet because of beautiful and melodic songs. Indeed, some of their songs (especially Kanade) are distinguished by some unusual calmness and even remind us of someone beloved and sweet who warms our soul
