Biography

Orthodox. From the nobles of the Simbirsk province.

He graduated from the Simbirsk military gymnasium (1882) and the 2nd Konstantinovsky military school (1884), from where he was released as lieutenant to the 91st Dvinsk infantry regiment . In 1887 he was transferred to the 37th artillery brigade .

Ranks: lieutenant (st. 08/14/1888), staff captain (st. 07/15/1894), captain (st. 07/19/1898), lieutenant colonel (1905), colonel (1908), major general (1915), general lieutenant (1919).

Since 1890, he served in the Main Artillery Directorate, where he held the posts of assistant to the head-captain, to the head-captain (1894-1904) and, finally, to the assistant to the head of the department (1904-1910). He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on August 21, 1905, " for a job, " and colonel on December 6, 1908, " for distinction in service ." In 1908 he graduated from the course of the Officer Artillery School . In 1910 he was appointed commander of the 5th battery of the 8th artillery brigade .

On June 16, 1914 he was appointed commander of the 1st Division of the 37th Artillery Brigade, with which he entered the First World War . He was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree

 For the fact that in the battles near Bolekhov on May 15, 16, 17 and 18, 1915, commanding artillery consisting of 4 batteries in the detachment, under the destructive fire of the enemy, he personally directed his artillery fire, which made it possible to keep the village of Podberez taken with a bayonet attack, despite the enemy’s attempts to drive us out of there. With the capture of D. Huseyow, we put forward a part of the battery at close range, developed a strong fire, and thereby inflicted a decisive defeat on the enemy and made it possible for us to hold our ground. 

On June 19, 1915 he was promoted to major general, and on July 3 of the same year he was appointed commander of the 37th artillery brigade. On February 18, 1917 he was appointed commander of the 166th Infantry Division, on July 7, 1917 - in the same rank and position. At the end of 1917 - the commander of the 18th Army Corps . At the beginning of 1918 he was a member of the Council for the Elimination of the Romanian Front under the Front Commander General Shcherbachev .

In the Civil War he participated in the White movement in the south of Russia. In September 1918 he arrived in the Volunteer Army , was at the disposal of the Black Sea military governor. Then he was appointed artillery inspector of the Astrakhan Corps . January 27, 1919 promoted to lieutenant general. In the spring of 1919, he was an artillery inspector of the 1st Army Corps , then he was in the reserve of ranks at the headquarters of the Supreme Commander of the All - Union Union of Liberal Democratic Forces . On July 24, 1919, he was appointed artillery inspector of the 5th Cavalry Corps, on November 13, the forces of the Kiev Region , and on December 8, 1919, he was added to the reserve of ranks of the troops of the Novorossiysk Region . In March 1920, he was the chief of defense of Novorossiysk. After the Novorossiysk evacuation, he returned to the Crimea. In the Russian army he was again appointed inspector of artillery of the 1st Army Corps. In October 1920, he was an artillery inspector of the Russian Army, with whom he was evacuated from Crimea . On December 18, 1920 - an artillery inspector of the 1st Army Corps in Gallipoli . He was the first deputy of General Kutepov during the stay of the corps in Gallipoli.

After the transfer of the 1st Army Corps to Bulgaria, he became one of the founders and the first chairman of the Main Board of the Gallipoli Society (1924-1933). Since 1924, in exile in France, he lived in Paris. He was chairman and honorary member of the division of the Society of Gallipoli in France, chairman of the Society of Artillery Officers in France, chairman of the association of the Simbirsk Cadet Corps and assistant commander of the 1st Army Corps. In 1927-1937 he was an assistant for combatant and business units, as well as a member of the educational committee of the Higher Military Scientific Courses in Paris, whose classes were held at the premises of the Gallipoli Society.

He died in 1937 in Paris. He was buried in the cemetery of Saint Genevieve de Bois . He was married to Tatyana Vasilyevna Peshekhonova (1867-1950).
