About the project
The exhibition "After the Count" is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the birth of the artist and teacher Leonid Stukanov ( 1947 - 1998 ) [4] [1] . The ideological inspirer and curator of the exhibition was the artist Natalia Duritskaya [1] [5] [6] .
Friends called Count Stukanov [7] . This name was invented by Alexander Zhdanov in his student years, when they studied together at the Rostov Art College [8] . Stukanov taught at the Taganrog Children's Art School for about thirty years, from 1969 to 1997 [9] [10] .
The exhibition featured 49 works by nine artists [3] [11] , who at different times studied under Leonid Stukanov [12] [13] .
At the opening of the exhibition, the archive film “Meeting with Leonid Stukanov”, filmed in 1997 by Vladimir Barsukov [14] [15], was shown.

Quotes
- “He was an excellent draftsman and painter. Not many managed to understand what rare talent the artist lived next to us. The son of a German officer and Russian convict, Stukanov was always and everywhere a stranger, in any company, in any city, at any time of the year. Friends called him the Earl. He passed away - lonely, misunderstood and completely unappreciated ” [16] - Yuri Shabelnikov , 2007 .
- “There are no random meetings. There are people who are milestones in your destiny. Stukanov was natural for his students, it could not have happened to us ... As a teacher, he was stingy with words, but the more significant they were, and the better they were remembered, crashed into the subconscious. I don’t want to invent myths, but, without a doubt, the magnetism of this person fascinated ... “I was lucky in life” to meet talented people, but it started with Stukanov ... ” [17] - Nadezhda Shvets , 2017 .
- “The count released a galaxy of megastars ... Sasha Chernov, Vasya Slepchenko , Yura Shabelnikov , Natasha Duritskaya ... when we were in Grekov’s school ... Taganrog was very strong ... a phenomenon ... Mater. A brilliant style virtuoso ” [17] - Vadim Morozov , 2017 .
- “Many of those present at the opening, not even being students of Leonid Stukanov,“ Count ”, as his friends and acquaintances called him, noted that the master inspired, prompted, guided, rather than taught and instructed. The value of creativity as an aesthetic ideal, without which there is no artist, has been developed much more than following a certain style ” [18] —Tatyana Stern, 2017 .
