FC Barcelona in the season 1901/1902

In the 1901/1902 season, Barcelona won their first tournament (Macaya Cup), with an absolute result. Barca won eight matches, scoring 60 goals and conceiving only 2. Later, the team changed the field, moving to d'Orta. It was originally intended to plant grass, but later this idea was abandoned because of its high cost, since the lawn would cost 1000 pesetas, a considerable amount at that time. Barca played several friendly matches on the Camp de la Plaza les Armes field. The first meeting in this field against the club "Spain" ended with the victory of "Barca" with a score of 1-0, Gamper scored a goal. The founder of the club was even the best player and top scorer of his team, the attendance of matches was still growing and reached a record figure of 10,000 spectators.

Along with the celebration of the coronation of King Alfonso XIII , the president of the newly created Madrid club (hereinafter referred to as Real Madrid), the Catalan Juan Padros, came up with the idea to organize the first national championship. As a result, instead of a championship, the first draw of the Spanish Cup was held, in which four teams took part: Barcelona , Madrid , New Football Club (Madrid) and Bizkaia. It was within the framework of this tournament that the first duel between Madrid (later Real Madrid) and Barcelona took place, laying the foundation for the world - famous El Clasico . The game ended with the victory of the Catalans with a score of 3-1. Barca reached the final, where it lost to Biscay. The Royal Spanish Football Federation still does not recognize this tournament as the official first draw of the Spanish Cup.
