Biography

He graduated from 10 classes of high school. Since 1951 - in the Soviet Army . He graduated from the Belgorod Artillery School, the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze , the Military Academy of the General Staff . He served as the recoil platoon commander of the 73rd Motor Rifle Regiment of the 2nd Guards Taman Motor Rifle Division of the Moscow Military District , the commander of the artillery battery of the same regiment, the senior adjutant of the First Deputy Commander- in -Chief of the Strategic Missile Forces , the senior officer of the operational direction of the central strategic command commander .

Since 1969 - deputy, then - commander of the 48th motorized infantry regiment of the 123rd motorized infantry division of the Far Eastern Military District . Since 1973 - deputy commander of the 265th motorized rifle division of the same district, since 1976 - commander of the 128th motorized rifle division of the Carpathian military district ( Mukachevo city).

Since March 1979 - Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the 38th Combined Arms Army of the Carpathian Military District, since 1981 - Commander of the 13th Combined Arms Army of the Carpathian Military District. Lieutenant General (11/3/1983). Since February 1984 - chief of staff - first deputy commander of the Transcaucasian Military District . From March 1987 to 1989 - Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Far East Forces .

Since 1989 - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR . Since September 5, 1991, he was deputy chairman of the commission for the analysis of the actions of the leadership of the Armed Forces during the State Emergency Committee (chairman - Army General K.I. Kobets ). As a result of the work of this commission, a significant part of the top leadership of the Armed Forces was dismissed from the army [1] .

In 1992-1995, he was a member of the government delegation in negotiations with the Republic of Lithuania [2] . In June 1992, as part of a state commission, he flew to Transnistria to assess the current situation in the Transnistrian conflict zone and report on it to the President of Russia [3] .

Retired in 1994. After being transferred to the reserve, he worked as a senior specialist in the Main Military Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation [4] .

He lived in Moscow. He was buried at the Federal War Memorial Cemetery [5] .
