Monuments to Bashkir soldiers in Germany - monuments erected in Leipzig and Dresden ( Germany ) in memory of Bashkir soldiers who served in the ranks of the Russian army on the side of the anti-Napoleonic coalition and participated in battles in Germany during the Russian Overseas Campaign Army 1813-1814

The first monument to Bashkir soldiers was erected in Leipzig in 2003 on the initiative and at the personal expense of Irek Baishev (a participant in the global Kurultai Bashkirs living in Leipzig). The author of the decoration was the German director and journalist Nasur Yurushbaev. The place for the monument was not chosen by chance. A memorial stone was laid in the center of the square on the western side of the Temple of the Russian Glory in Leipzig (German: Russische Gedächtniskirche), set in memory of the soldiers who died in the Battle of the Peoples near Leitzig on October 16-19, 1813.

The inauguration of the first monument to Bashkir soldiers took place in the fall of 2003 and was timed to coincide with the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Peoples.

The second monument was erected in a lime garden in Dresden in 2006 and is dedicated to the battle of Dresden in August 1813 , in which Bashkir soldiers also participated. The financing and execution of the memorial stone was completely assumed by Irek Baishev.

The base of the monuments is made of monolithic stone boulders about 80-120 cm high. Bronze tablets with the image of a jumping Bashkir warrior armed with a bow and arrows and the corresponding text are fixed on the stones:

  • “The Battle of the Peoples of 1813. In memory of the Bashkir people, whose sons served in the ranks of the Russian army ”;
  • “The Battle of Dresden 1813. Memory of the Bashkir people, whose sons served in the ranks of the Russian army on the side as part of the anti-Napoleonic coalition”

in German, Bashkir and Russian. The plate on the monument in Leipzig was later replaced by a granite one.

Under each monument is a capsule with a Bashkir kurai.

In the Patriotic War of 1812 and the foreign campaigns of the Russian army in 1813-1814. 28 Bashkir regiments participated.
