Vasyagina, Maria Pavlovna

Maria Pavlovna Vasyagina (December 14, 1929, Sinyakovo village , Mordovia district [1] - Soviet Kazakhstan botanist. Co-author of 6 volumes of 9 “ Flora of spore plants of Kazakhstan ”, the Red Book of Kazakhstan , the Red Book of the USSR . She described 126 new species and forms of fungi of various systematic groups.

Candidate of Biological Sciences (1959). Laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR (1987).

Graduated from Kazakh State University (1952). After graduation, she worked at the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1956-1988), a senior researcher and head of the department (1976-86).

In 1943, Sofia Ruvinovna Shvartsman, a spore plant department, was created in the botanical sector of the Kazakh branch of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences. In 1966, the spore plant biology laboratory was separated from the spore plant department under the supervision of Dr. Sc. B.K. Kalymbetova, but in 1978 both laboratories were reunited in 1 department - taxonomy of lower plants (head - candidate of biological sciences M.P. Vasyagin). In 1981, the named department was divided into 2: the department of systematics and geography of lower plants (head - candidate of biological sciences M.P. Vasyagin) and the laboratory of biology of spore plants (director - candidate of agricultural sciences. S . A. Abiev). In 1985, two laboratories were created from the laboratory of biology of spore plants: experimental mycology (head - candidate of agricultural sciences S. A. Abiev) and experimental hydrobotany (head of doctor of biological sciences T. T. Taubaev) .

Member of the All-Union Botanical Society since 1957.
