Tom of Finland is a biographical drama film by the Finnish director House Karukoski , based on the biography of the artist Touko Laaxsonen , who became famous for his many homopornographic drawings.

History
Director House Karukoski has been working on the film for five years, and on the budget the film has become one of the most expensive in Finland (€ 5 million) [1] .
Among other things, the film tells about the attitude of society towards homosexuals in post-war Finland and the USA. There are practically no sex scenes in the film, although the whole life of the hero is based on homosexual fantasies.

Rewards
On February 4, 2017, the film was awarded the Fipresci Award at the Gothenburg Film Festival [2] .
In September 2017, the film was nominated by the Academy Award from Finland [3] , but did not enter the shortlist [4] .
