Construction History

The K-117 missile submarine was laid on the slipways of Sevmash ( Severodvinsk ) in 1986 under the serial number 383, while the K-117 became the thousandth among the submarines built at Russian shipyards [1] , launch on February 8, 1988 , The nuclear reactors were physically launched on April 16, the ship went into operation on September 30, and was admitted to the 13th division of the 3rd Northern Fleet submarine flotilla on November 9 .

Service History

On October 30, 2015, as part of a planned training to test the control system of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from the Barents Sea, the R-29RMU2 ballistic missile was launched [9] .

On October 26, 2017, during a training session on the management of the strategic nuclear forces of Russia, the Sineva ICBM was launched [10] .

On January 18, 2018, the Bryansk project 667BDRM submarine missile carrier replaced the Tula submarine of the same project , which was repaired at the end of December, at the Severodvinsk enterprise Zvezdochka . [eleven]

Patronage

On June 25, 1996, an agreement was signed on establishing patronage of K-117 with the administration of the city of Bryansk , and on January 27, 1998 the cruiser was given the name "Bryansk". Patronage of connections for a long time was interrupted, but was restored since 2006 at the initiative of the city administration and personally the deputy head of administration Valery Manuyev [12] . In 2008, V. Manuev paid a visit to the training center for submariners in Obninsk , where he met with representatives of the cruiser’s crew and invited them to visit the city in whose honor their submarine is named. On December 6, 2008, for the first time, a delegation of Bryansk officers visited the city patronizing the boat [12] . The commander of Bryansk, Dmitry Stepanenko, received from the mayor of Bryansk, Igor Alekhine, a submarine model made of Dyatkovo crystal. The governors of the region were also awarded commemorative medals to mark the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Bryansk region. During the visit, the submariners made a city tour, visited the Partizanskaya Polyana memorial complex, the local history museum, and Svensky Monastery .
