Semyon Iosifovich Augustevich (born December 3, 1937 , Saratov ) - writer, scientist, teacher, candidate of psychological sciences, assistant professor of journalism and media education. Editor-in-chief of the journal of the Jewish communities of Central Russia and the Volga region "Roots" (from 1994 to the present day), the bulletins "Jewish World" and "Warm Houses of Moscow" Head of the Association of People's Universities of Jewish Culture of the CIS and the People's University of Jewish Culture in Central Russia and the Volga Region [1] .

Biography

Semyon Iosifovich Avgustevich was born in 1937 in Saratov . He was the third son of Joseph Semenovich [2] . In 1956 he graduated from the Saratov Electromechanical College [3] . After that, from 1956 to 1959 he served in the army . In 1965 he graduated from the Saratov Polytechnic Institute . Since 1968 he worked at the Research Institute of Minaviaprom. From 1975 to 1989 he taught at the Saratov State University. And from 1985 to 1989, he simultaneously worked at the All-Union Institute for Advanced Studies of Leading Workers as Dean of the Faculty of Correspondence Education and head of the Department of Management. In 1978, he organized and became the head of the first in the USSR laboratory of labor psychology in motor vehicles [3] . In 1983 he defended his thesis in psychology at Moscow State University [3] . In 1989, he founded the Tshuva Jewish public organization in Saratov [4] . In 1989-1990, Semyon Avgustevich was a member of the Coordination Council, and then a member of the Presidium of Vaad of Russia (Federation of Jewish Organizations) [5] .

Semyon Iosifovich moved to Moscow, published in the Jewish press, organized a service for psychological assistance to repatriates [6] . In October 1991, the Association of Humanist Judaism was created, and Semyon Augustevich was elected Chairman of the Council of this organization [7] [8] .

At the same time, working in the Russian project of the Open University of Israel, he created the Training Center of this university in the USSR / CIS / Russia [3] and supervised it through 2012. In 1993-1994, he created the regional People's University of Jewish Culture, where, along with other specialists from the cities of the Volga region and Central Russia, he gives lectures himself, including the lecture “Soviet Jewry through the eyes of an interested person” [5] . Later he takes part in the organization of other regional People’s universities, unites them in the Association of People’s Universities of Jewish Culture of the CIS and leads it. And also becomes the editor of all media publications associated with the Association (Marce magazine - lecturer and “Lecturer library”, where 33 issues of these materials were published in 2004). In 1994, Semen Augustevich began to publish the journal "Roots" [5] , becoming its editor in chief.

During reader conferences on the materials of the magazine in different cities of the region, Semyon Avgustevich repeatedly met with readers. So, on July 31, 2003, he spoke at the Penza Center for Jewish Religion and Culture "Atikva" [9] . And on March 19, 2004 he introduced the participants of the Unknown Holocaust Club meeting to the content of the Roots publication [10] .

Since 2006, he has been teaching the following courses at the Moscow State Humanitarian University named after M. A. Sholokhov : Personal resource of a journalist, Psychology of journalism, Communication in journalism. Genres of periodicals, Newspaper journalism, Psychology of journalistic creativity, Media design of mass media. Corporate journalism [3] . In 2009, he took part in the International Scientific Conference “Petersburg - Israel. Intelligent dialogue ” [11] .

He participated and made presentations from 2007 to 2011 at the Fourteenth, Fifteenth [12] , Sixteenth [13] , Seventeenth, Eighteenth annual international conferences on Jewish studies of the Center “Sefer”. From January 29 to January 31, 2012 he participated in the Nineteenth Annual International Conference on Jewish Studies [14] .
