History

On May 23, 1936, in Rostov-on-Don, at the intersection of Gazetny Lane and Bolshaya Sadovaya (Engels) Street, the Palace of Pioneers and October (the old name of the center) was inaugurated. The palace occupied the Volga-Kama Bank building, which was designed by architect Alexei Nikolayevich Beketov .

In the autumn of 1936, the first two departments of the Palace began their work: scientific, technical and artistic, in 1937 a naturalistic department was opened, in 1938 a military sports department, and in 1939 a political and mass department. So, by 1940 the main structure of the Palace of Pioneers was formed: it brought together more than 40 circles, studios, laboratories and art groups.

During the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), the work of circles and sections of the Palace of Pioneers was suspended, but only during the occupation of the city by German troops. Many teachers of the Palace went to the front. In the first post-war years, almost all previously existing circles and sections continued their work in the Palace.

During this period, the following stars were formed and began to function: a music studio, a club for preschoolers and primary schoolchildren Zvyozdochka, KID (Club of International Friendship), the City Pioneer Headquarters Gorn, and the Komsomol headquarters for high school students “Restless Hearts”.

In the period of 1970–80s, the Museum of the History of Don Pioneer Organization “Pioneer Glory”, the “Young Medic”, “Young Pilot” and “Young Sailor” clubs were opened, the Living Corner was formed, and the Pioneer flotilla of the Palace appeared.

On the left bank of the Don was opened the city camp of the pioneer, Komsomol asset and pioneer counselors "Silver Pipes". At the memorial complex "Fallen Soldiers" at the Eternal Flame in the square to them. Frunze was organized by the permanent pioneer-Komsomol Post No. 1 , on which to this day students of the city’s schools carry an honorable Memory Watch.

One of the most important events of this period was the opening of the UNO (Youth Scientific Society), in the future - DANUI (Don Academy of Sciences of Young Researchers). At annual conferences held reports of young researchers in various fields of science were heard. The design of the Museum of the History of the Russian Fleet “Sea Glory” was completed.

In 1991, the Palace of Pioneers was renamed the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity of Rostov-on-Don. During the financial crisis of the 1990s, the employees of the Palace not only managed to keep in the structure of the institution, but also opened museums: “History of the Don Region” and “Young Defenders of the Fatherland”, set up the work of new clubs: “Petit” (young journalists) and “UNEC "(Young ecologists), to open the first summer city school for gifted children" Hope " [2] .
