Hossein Sadahyani ( Pers. حسین صدقیانی ; January 1, 1903 , Tabriz - December 1, 1982 , Tehran ) - Iranian footballer , striker , and coach. The first head coach in the history of the national team of Iran . Known for playing for Charleroi and Fenerbahce .

Club career

During the first half of the 1920s, he was first in Turkey , and then in Austria , where in particular he played football in youth teams. In 1924 he returned to his homeland, where he founded a football team in Mashhad .

At the age of 26, he again went to Europe, joining one of the universities in the Belgian city of Charleroi . There he became a player in the team of the league club Marcienne-Monco. The football talent of an Iranian student attracted the attention of the coaching staff of the leading local club Charleroi , to which Sadahyani joined in 1930, becoming the first Iranian player in European football [1] . Played for Charleroi for four seasons. He was among the best goalscorer, marking 34 goals scored in 54 championship matches.

In 1935 he again went to Turkey, where he became a player in the capital's Fenerbahce , for which he played until 1936.

Coach Career

In the summer of 1941, it was decided to create the national football team of Iran , which Sadakhyan was invited to coach. With the exception of a short break from 1948 to 1949, he was an irreplaceable head coach of the Iranian main team until 1950. In parallel, in 1945, he began working with the football team of Tehran University , the preparation of which he worked until 1964.
