Bamou National Park ( Persian پارک ملی بمو English: Bamou national park) is one of Iran 's national parks in the province of Fars . This park, named after Mount Bamu, is located in the north of the city of Shiraz [1] . The park has been under state protection since 1975. The area of the park is 48 thousand hectares [2] .
Content
History
State control in the future Bamu National Park was introduced in 1962 with a ban on hunting in the area. This territory included an area of 100,000 hectares. In 1967, with the creation of the Organization for Hunting and Fisheries Control, this area turned into a protected natural area, and then into the Bamu Wildlife Park, and as a result, in 1975, when the Environmental Protection Organization was created, this area, whose area was 48678 hectares , became known as Bamu National Park.
Ecosystem and landscape
In terms of the number of animals and the diversity of wildlife, the Bamu National Park ranks third in importance, giving way to the Golestan and Urumie National Parks [1] . The presence of many species of mammals and birds, beautiful natural species and historical monuments existing in the national park are considered the most important tourist attractions.
In the natural habitat of Bamu, in addition to leopards, live mammals such as gazelles, rams, goats and capricorns, as well as birds such as golden eagles. Other animals that live in this region include hyenas, reed cats, forest cats, house owls, and eagle owls. In 2012-2013, there were six leopards in the park [3] . In total, the national park has 112 species of animals, 69 birds, 21 mammals, 19 species of reptiles and 3 species of amphibians, as well as various types of plants [4] .
Cliffs and steep descents, cliffs and cliffs, deep gorges and special mountain views make it possible to call the Bamu National Park also a geopark.
Climate
The Bamu National Park has a semi-dry cool climate and in winter there is a lot of rainfall. The average annual rainfall in Shiraz is 392.9 mm, and the average temperature is 17.9 degrees. The region is dominated by north-west and west winds.
Human settlements
There are no residential territories on the territory of Bamu National Park, but on its outskirts there are 30 villages and cities, such as, for example, Shiraz and Zargan.
The main economic activity in these villages is related to livestock and agriculture, in particular the cultivation of grapes.
Threats to the National Park
Among the factors threatening the Bamu National Park, one can distinguish:
Numerous garrisons and military centers in the vicinity of the park, as well as improvement projects, including the Shiraz- Isfahan railway, pipelines for oil, gas condensate Agardalan - Shiraz refinery, the development of the Shiraz refinery, power lines and more.
