History
The group was formed on May 3, 1985, when five friends, regulars of the Gorky “heap” (the place where music lovers exchanged vinyl) - namely, Vadim Demidov, Kirill Kobrin, Alexander Tereshkin, Alexey Maximov and Alexey Kazimirov - decided to record a music album at home at the latter. Home Aquarium, an album played on three seven-ruble guitars, children’s handicrafts and recorders, appeared 23 days after the band’s birth. The reference point for the "chronops" of that time is considered to be Russian rock of St. Petersburg dressing. The first performance of "Chronop" in "electricity" took place in October 1986 at the I Gorky Rock Festival, the jury of which was chaired by Artem Troitsky . The set of "Chronop" was received ambiguously by the audience and organizers of the festival, the Komsomol functionaries were quick to declare the group disloyal, but in the end it received a prize "for the most controversial program." In the 1980s, Chronop participated in a number of iconic rock festivals, including in Podolsky (1987), Novosibirsk (1988), Kharkov ("Rock against Stalinism", 1989), as well as the action “Rock of Pure Water” (1990). In the same years, two albums were recorded - “Gray sheets” and “Stomp flies” (a collection of concert acoustic recordings). Chronop first appeared in a real studio only in 1989 - when the group participated in the Soviet-Danish project “Next Stop Rock'n'Roll”, the song “Bonfire” was recorded in the Danish mobile studio. The album Next Stop Rock'n'Roll was released in 1990. In the 1990s, Chronop gradually complicated the musical fabric of its songs. The first studio album "Here and Now" was recorded in the Cheboksary studio "Pro" in February 1990 (sound engineers Vladimir and Igor Lutoshkiny). The following year, "Here and Now" saw the light at the company "Melody" (editor Andrei Burlaka), this is the group's first vinyl. In the same Cheboksary, the album “Easier than Water” (1991) was recorded. The book by Alexander Kushnir “ 100 Magnetic Albums of Soviet Rock ” tells the story of its creation. In the mid-90s, another album, “Somewhere in Europe,” appeared.
In 1995, two “Chronop” songs “Liquid lover” and “Still Life” were recorded and released by Sergey “Chizh” Chigrakov Chizh & Co (album “About Love”), soon both songs in his performance became hits.
In 1999, Chronop tried to switch from art-rock tracks to trip-hop tracks, a fragment of the new program was shot and shown by the NNTV television channel (Music of the 21st Century). However, the group could not stand such a radical reform of the style and on January 6, 2000 broke up.
Nevertheless, the members of the group found the strength to reunite. The performance of “Chronop” in its “golden” line-up took place in the fall of 2004 - at the presentation of the book “Somewhere in Europe” by one of the founding fathers of the group Kirill Kobrin. And the real reunion happened at the end of 2005. At the same time, work began on the album "Liquid Lover". After the reunion, Chronop released 5 albums. “Chronop” mainly gives concerts in Nizhny Novgorod, although it made forays twice on festivals - on “Old New Rock” (2008) and on “10th anniversary of the music publishing house“ Geometry ”(2011).
The Lyrebird Season album was criticized warmly by critics. So in Rolling Stone magazine the album “earned” four stars out of five possible, and several music observers, in particular Denis Stupnikov, Anton Kovalsky and Sergey Mudrik, placed it in their final “top 10”.
At the beginning of 2013, Vadim Demidov, on the record label “Branch Exit”, released the collection “Acoustics The Best”, which includes acoustic versions of the best songs of “Chronop” of the late 2000s.
In April 2014, Chronop released the ninth studio album Seychaste in the music publishing house Geometry. One of the founding fathers of the group, Alexander Tereshkin, took over the work on it. Seychastche received many flattering reviews from critics, and in the Rolling Stone magazine the album "earned" 4 stars again. At the same time, the columnist of the magazine Andrei Bukharin noted that Chronop is one of the best Russian groups [1] . The composition of the group has changed - instead of Igor Shavyrov (bass) and Mikhail Kiselev (guitar), Alexey Sidorov (bass) and Andrey Kolesov (guitar, keyboards) appeared.
Toward the close of 2014, Vadim Demidov and Alexander Tereshkin, under the brand name “Chronop”, released the New Year’s single “Flexible People”, this song was composed in 1987 and sounded at the Podolsk festival. For the new edition, Demidov reworked the lyrics.
Since the summer of 2014, Chronop has shown no signs of life, however, in July 2016, the group gathered to perform at the anniversary festival “Pure Water Rock”, which took place on the main square of Nizhny Novgorod. The veterans хрон chronopes ’- Alexander Tereshkin, Vadim Demidov, Pavel Noskov, Andrey Malykh and the хрон chronopes’ who participated in the recording of the Seychastchye album –– Alexei Sidorov and Mikhail Kiselev, entered the stage. In September, work began on the new album "Chronop", the tenth in her discography. The sound producer of the album is Alex Repyev, who previously recorded five albums of the group.
December 9, 2016 "Chronop" in an expanded composition played at the 15th anniversary of the music publishing house "Geometry" [2] . Before the performance, the leader of the group Vadim Demidov told “ Smuggling ” that “after this festival Chronop does not plan to perform anymore” [2] .
In January 2017, “Chronop” published the song “You Want with Me” - the first single of the upcoming album, which will be the tenth in the group’s discography. The flute was played by Andrei Malykh, a member of the "golden" group. The sound producer again was Alex Repyev.
At first, on the Chronop’s blog, Vadim Demidov announced his desire to release a song every month in order to get a finished album at the end of the year. However, over the next year only seven singles were released, the song “When I Get Back” was recorded for the future tribute of Alexander Galich and the archived “Christmas” was rewritten for the collection of New Year and Christmas songs “Acoustic Christmas”, produced by Konstantin Arbenin .
The participants of various Chronop teams had a hand in the studio work: Vadim Demidov, Pavel Noskov, Alexander Tereshkin, Mikhail Kiselev, and musician friends: Alexei Ratsen , Dmitry Tokman, Ksenia Balashova, Mikhail Zelmanov, Egor Baranov.
In 2018, Chronop continued to work on new compositions. The greatest success fell on the song “Well, I was afraid in vain”, which was presented by the weekly newspaper Novaya Gazeta.
In April 2019, the jubilee 10th album Despair and Love was released at the Geometry music publishing house; it was welcomed by music critics. Vadim Ponomarev (Guru Ken) [3] calls the album a portrait of the era in watercolor, and Alexander Kutinov [4] - sounding Calvados, Andrei Bukharin [5] - an authentic, mature masterpiece, where everything is great: songs, poetry, intonation, this is the last sunset Russian rock leaving the horizon.
