Biography

Born in 1882 in the village of Dosugovo, Smolensk province , father - teacher. He studied at a teacher’s seminary in the village of Alferovo of the Vyazemsky Uyezd , graduated from it in 1901, after which he taught for four years in the city of Sychevka .

In 1905 he moved to Cherkasy , in 1906 - to Moscow , becoming a teacher at Prechistensky working courses .

From 1909 to 1916 he taught in the city of Melenki, Vladimir province , in his spare time he wrote articles on floristic research, became interested in the taxonomy of the willow genus, which is complex in botanical terms. In 1916 he moved to Tver , then - to Moscow, where until 1930 he worked in various secondary schools.

In 1920, he collected plants in the Oryol and Tula provinces, in 1921 - on Novaya Zemlya , in 1928 - in the Nizhny Novgorod province , in 1929 - on the East Sayan .

Since 1930, he went on expeditions to study kendyr , in 1931-1933 he studied the vegetation of Transbaikalia . In 1933-1935 he processed the Willow genus for Flora of the USSR , Flora of Transbaikalia, Flora of Ukraine.

In 1934-1935 he taught general botany and plant geography at the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute , since 1935 he worked in the herbarium of Moscow University .

Since 1937, he repeatedly traveled to the Caucasus , in 1941 he traveled to the East Sayan.

He died in August 1942 in an evacuation in Ashgabat .
