Boutheon

In ancient documents, the castle was first mentioned in the XIII century. Although the architecture has changed a lot since then. Buteon Castle was a fortress, with the help of which they controlled the Loire River , the mountains of Foret, Mont du Lyon and Pilate. The boutheon was built on the money of the counts of Foret and belonged to them between the XIII and XIV centuries. But soon in 1332 it passed into the hands of Lord Gödmarar Revue, then in 1386 in the possession of Robert de Challe, and finally in 1420 the castle was taken over by Louis Vesely. In 1486, Boutheon took possession of Mathieu Bourbon - an approximate of the French king Charles VIII . In 1561, the Florentine merchant Guillaume Gadan bought the castle from the Bourbon family. At the end of the 18th century, the descendants of Guillaume sell Buteon. In the 19th century, the castle is very often sold and bought, as well as rebuilt. During the First World War , the castle housed a hospital. During the Second World War, the owners of the castle place a shelter for refugees from all over Europe. In 1995, the city administration of Andresieu-Buteon buys a castle and creates a museum on its territory.

Museum

Museum exhibitions are an exhibition of the life of the Foret family, an aquarium on the Loire River and halls for temporary exhibitions.
