The village of Grekovo (later became known as Grekovo-Timofeevka) was founded in 1779. In 1856, the construction of the church cathedral began in the village, which lasted almost three years - in 1858 the first service was held in the church. The beautiful cathedral became the spiritual center not only of Grekovo-Timofeevka, but also of the nearby villages.
The church was built in the spirit of ancient Moscow - white stone, strict, easily holding the central large and four small domes with carved arched belts. At that time, such temples for the south of Russia were rare. The buildings belonging to the church included houses for the priest and psalmist, as well as a guardhouse. Later, a parish school was established.
In 1935, the Shirokov collective farm of the Malokirsanovsky village council of the Anastasievsky district occupied the church building and before the German occupation of the village in October 1941, used it to store grain. During the Great Patriotic War , church services began in the church building, which lasted until the Khrushchev era. Since March 1963, the church did not function and was again used as a granary.
The worship services in the temple, which are ongoing, began in the early 1990s after the collapse of the USSR . In 1991, restoration work began in the church, the roof was again built, the floors were covered, the walls were painted. In 2014, a central gilded dome was installed in the church, asphalt was laid on the church grounds, new gates and a fence were installed. [3]
