Agafonik (Nikolaidis)

He graduated from the Florin Pedagogical Academy and the theological faculty of the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki ^[1] .

In 1986, he became a monk in the monastery of St. Dionysius on Mount Olympus ^[1] .

In 2001, he was ordained a hierodeacon , and in 2003, a hieromonk . He served as a preacher in the Florinsky and Kitra metropolises ^[1] .

From 2004 to 2011, various missionary obediences took place in Africa . Having entered the clergy of the Alexandrian Orthodox Church, he was appointed protosingel of the Dar es Salaam diocese , where he organized AIDS prevention seminars and recorded patients for medical and financial assistance ^[2] . In addition to native Greek, she speaks English and Swahili.

In December 2013, he was appointed rector of the Alexandrian Theological Seminary of St. Athanasius the Great, as well as secretary of the Patriarchal Chancellery.

On November 17, 2016, by a decision of the Synod, he was unanimously elected bishop of the newly established Arusha diocese ^[3] .

On December 11 of that year, in the Alexandria Patriarchal Church of St. Sava, his episcopal consecration took place, performed by the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all of Africa, Theodore II , Metropolitan Apostle of Miletus (Vulgaris) , Metropolitan George of Kiter and Kateryns (Chrysostomus) , Metropolitan of Novokridinsky , Metropolitan Dimitri of Irinopolis (Zakharengas) , Metropolitan of Pelusia Nifon (Tsavaris) , Metropolitan of Accra Narkiss (Gammokh) and Metropolitan of Carthage Meletius (Kumanis) ^[4] .

On April 30, 2017, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Church of St. Demetrius in the Greek community of Yrigue was intronized by Bishop Agafonik, led by Metropolitan Dimitri of Irinopolis (Zakharenghas) , who read out the greeting from Patriarch Theodore II and addressed the bishop ^{[5] being} enthroned.
