Constant Tasteven ( fr. Constant Tastevin ; February 21, 1880 , Lorient - September 25, 1962 ) - French missionary and ethnographer.

He graduated from the , then the Pontifical Gregorian University , received in 1903 a gold medal for his doctoral dissertation. In 1904, he was ordained and after a short stay at the Bible Institute in Jerusalem, he went as a missionary to remote areas of Brazil. Missionary activities in South America Tasteven led until 1926, with a break in the years 1914-1919. in connection with the First World War (he returned to France for military service, served for some time in artillery, then as a nurse and a translator from Portuguese).
In the 1920s. participated in ethnographic studies in Brazil, initiated by . In 1927, on his return to Paris, he became the first professor of ethnography at the Paris Catholic Institute (since 1930 an honorary professor).
He published a number of scientific works on the language and customs of the Amazonian tribes - in particular, the Puynavian languages , the Maca and Tupi languages . In the 1930-1940s. He was also engaged in African studies , but his works did not receive the approval of specialists.
