A man orchestra performing on a street in Calgary .
A man orchestra is a musician who plays several instruments at the same time, using his hands, legs, various mechanical and / or electronic devices. In the simplest cases, a man orchestra accompanies itself with an acoustic guitar and harmonica attached to the holder. In more complex cases, the set may include wind instruments on the neck, a large drum at the back with a pedal-controlled beater, cymbals between legs, tambourines and maracas tied to limbs, string instruments ( banjo , ukulele or guitar ) over the shoulder, etc. Since the advent of MIDI in the 1980s, musicians have also begun to add chest drum MIDI pads , electronic drums with foot triggers and electronic pedal keyboards to their set.
