Professional Wrestling Career

As a young man, Michael lived next door to the Marell family (the famous wrestler Gorilla Monson and his son Joey, who at that time worked as a referee in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), known today as WWE ), which helped break Mike into the professional wrestling industry.

Having studied judging, Kioda appeared on the Survivor Series 1989 , where he judged the Enforcers fight ( Big Bossman (k), Bad News Brown , Rick Martel and Honky Ton Man ) against the Dream Team ( Dusty Rhodes (k), Brutus Beef cake, Tito Santana and Red Rooster). However, he soon took a break from refereeing, and appeared only on WrestleMania VII . He became a regular referee only in 1992.

In May 1996, he participated in the controversial ending of the show In Your House 8: Beware of Dog, when the referee Earl Hebner was injured during the British Bulldog match against Sean Michaels . Hebner was knocked out of the ring, and he was replaced by Mike Kyoda. After the German supplex performed by Michaels, Kyoda began the countdown for Michaels lying on the shoulder blades and awarded the victory to Bulldog, however, Earl Hebner, who returned to the ring, reversed his decision, conferring victory on Michaels. President Gorilla Monson entered the ring and announced a draw.

On July 3, 1999, at Shotgun PPV, Kyoda received an Implant DDT from Gangrel, after his defeat to Test in a match whose referee was Kyoda.

In 2001, after WWF acquired the WCW and ECW promotions, the plot began for the wrestlers' invasion of these companies in the federation. At the same time as the wrestlers, the promotion referees who became part of WWF began their invasion. The judges of the WCW constantly supported the wrestlers of the formed Alliance, because of which there were constantly clashes between the referees of the Alliance and WWF. In a SmackDown episode of October 4, 2001, during a fight between Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle , Alliance Senior Referee, WCW Senior Referee Nick Patrick attacked referee Earl Hebner and was forced to flee, as Mike Kyoda hurried to help Hebner, who chased after Patrick through the auditorium. As a result, the main event of the evening was a three-on-three team battle - Scala , Chris Jericho and Mike Kioda, against WWF team champions, members of the Alliance brothers Dudley and Nick Patrick. During the battle, Kioda received a strong blow from Babba Ray Dudley and injured his right hand, which did not stop him from performing the crown finisher of the People’s Elbow Rock on Patrick, holding him, and thereby bringing victory to his team.

After the September 11 attacks, a small American flag was sewn to the referee’s uniform, however, there is currently no flag on his uniform.

During the division of brands, he turned up at SmackDown, where he became the first senior referee of the brand in history. According to him, he likes the SmackDown referee uniform more than the RAW referee uniform . While working on SmackDown, Michael judged the Big Show fight against Brock Lesnar . After Lesnar’s superplex against the Big Show, the ring was broken, and Kioda declared the match invalid.

In 2003 he was transferred to RAW. Following the dismissal of RAW senior referee Earl Hebner in 2005, Kioda became the senior referee for the brand. During his career as RAW senior referee, Kioda judged matches such as Triple H.H. against Batista at WrestleMania 21 , John Cena vs Triple Heych at Wrestlemania 22 , John Cena vs Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 23 and John Cena vs Batista at SummerSlam 2008 . At WrestleMania 23 during the refereeing, he received Sweet Chin Music from Sean Michaels and was knocked out.

In November 2008, after the referee was denied branding, he began to judge fights on SmackDown. He defended his first fight on a blue brand on November 28, 2008. It was a clock-beat match between Shelton Benjamin and Triple Eych. The match’s finals turned into controversy when Kyoda was hit by a blow, and Jeff Hardy said his match against Triple Hatch ended at the same time. This led to a triple threat match at Armageddon 2008 .

At Over The Limit 2011 PPV, Kyoda was judged by a fight between Miz and John Cena, who passed the rules of "I surrender" for the WWE title. During the fight, Miz planned to win the fight with the help of a tape recorder, however, during his use, Kyoda noticed the tape player and restarted the fight. In the end, Miz gave up, and Sina remained the champion.

At the Hell in a Cell 2011, he tried the match of the triple threat in the Hell in a Cell between John Cina, Alberto Del Rio and SM Punk . After the fight, Miz and R-Truff burst into the cage and began beating the wrestlers inside the cage, referees Scott Armstrong, Mike Kiyoda and cameramen.

On April 1, 2012, he judged the battle of John Cena against Rock, in WrestleMania XXVIII . Was featured as a referee in the 2012 game for iOs WWE WrestleFest. Judged the main fight of WrestleMania 31 between Brock Lesnar and Roman Raines for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. In the middle of the fight, Seth Rollins signed up for the Money in the Bank contract and won the title.

Among the last fights that Kiodo served are the match of Shane McMan against Undertaker in WrestleMania 32 , the match of Roman Raines against Seth Rollins and the match of Seth Rollins against Dean Ambrose at Money in the Bank 2016, the SHIELD tee at Battlegraund 2016 , Six-pack elimination replacementndge math ( Becky Lynch vs Naomi vs Nikki Bella vs Alexa Bliss vs Natalya vs Carmella) for the SmackDown Women's Champion title and AJ Jay Styles match against Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Champion title at the 2016 Backlash PPV.
