The III winter World Games of military personnel were held in Sochi , from February 23 to February 27, 2017 . This is the first sporting event of its kind in Russia [1] .

Location of sports facilities of the Olympic Park

Sochi was chosen as the capital of the III Winter Games of the military in 2015 at the 70th General Assembly of the International Council of Military Sports in Kuwait .

The World Games were held at sports venues created for the 2014 Winter Olympics .

The sports facilities of the Third Winter World Military Games are located in two clusters:

  1. Coastal cluster , or Olympic Park . Sochi Olympic Park is located on the Black Sea coast in the Imereti Lowland . The construction of some facilities of the Olympic Park was completed at the end of 2012 in order to conduct test competitions in 2013, while other facilities were completed in 2013-2014.
  2. Mountain cluster , or Krasnaya Polyana
