Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan ( Azerb. Azərbaycan Respublikasının vitse-prezidenti ) is a group of posts in Azerbaijan following the post of President of Azerbaijan . There is the position of First Vice President ( Azerb. Azərbaycan Respublikasının Birinci vitse-prezidenti ) and the position of Vice Presidents of Azerbaijan . The current first vice president of Azerbaijan is Mehriban Aliyeva , wife of President Ilham Aliyev ; posts of other vice presidents are still vacant [1] .

The positions of the Vice Presidents of Azerbaijan were established by a series of amendments to the Constitution , adopted at a constitutional referendum on September 26, 2016 . These amendments give the president the right to appoint and dismiss the first vice president and vice presidents.

Authority
With the early resignation of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic from office within 60 days, early elections of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic are held [2] . In this case, before the election of a new President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the powers of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan are performed by the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan; if the first vice president resigns, completely loses the ability to fulfill his powers due to health reasons, then in a certain sequence the vice president of the Republic of Azerbaijan receives the status of first vice president and fulfills the powers of the head of state [3] .
Immunity
During the term of office, the identity of the Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is inviolable. The Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan cannot be detained, prosecuted, except in cases of capture at the crime scene, administrative penalties cannot be applied to him in court, he cannot be subjected to search, personal search. The inviolability of the Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan may be terminated only by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of a proposal from the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan [4] .
