The chamber ensemble “Baroque” is a Soviet and Russian ensemble. Established in 1968. The founder and permanent artistic director is the People’s Artist of the RSFSR - Igor Popkov .

Since the founding of the group, its repertoire consists of original and not previously performed ancient works, famous Baroque masterpieces. The national music schools of Europe of the XVII — XVIII centuries, Russian chamber-instrumental music of the XVIII - beginning of the XIX centuries, music of modern authors, written specially for the ensemble [1], are presented.
The team began its activities on the basis of the Yaroslavl Philharmonic [2] .
The first in Russia began to speak in the museum space. Since 1971, in conjunction with the Yaroslavl Art Museum, he has organized fairy tale concerts for children and thematic concerts for museum exhibitions [3] .
From 1970 to 1991, the Baroque ensemble actively collaborated with the USSR State Concert and Soyuz Concert . He visited with tours all regions of the country and 34 countries of the world [4] .
The team’s creative friendship with the USSR People’s Artist Alexander Vedernikov and Honored Artist of Russia Natalia Gerasimova made it possible to record several discs with romances and songs.
