History
In the 1880s, the house became the property of a state adviser, Dr. Pavel Matveyevich Shedevi. He is known for participating in the publication of the journal Earth and Freedom, which did not have legal status, during his studies at the university. In 1875, Pavel Shedevi became a senior doctor in the charitable institutions of Taganrog. In parallel, the main source of his income was developing - private practice, which was quite profitable. At the end of the XIX century, Pavel Shedevi took the post of chief sanitary doctor of the city of Taganrog. In addition, among his merits was the title of Honorary Magistrate, vowel of the Duma and member of the Board. There is reason to believe that Pavel Shedevi became the prototype of Dr. Startsev [3] in the story of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov “ Ionych ” [2] . It is also known that Shedevi owned the garden, but its exact location is not known [4] .
As of 1927, the natural-historical department of the city museum of local lore was located in this house [5] . The former home of Pavel Shedevi is preserved, now it is a residential building [2] .
