Biography
Born September 25, 1957. In his youth, he gained experience in criminal activities, later became one of the founders of the organization Kriminellas revansch i samhället (KRIS), which is engaged in crime prevention and rehabilitation of former prisoners. He became a singer and guitarist, went on tour to different countries. Together with Hellström composed a tandem under the brand Roslund & Hellström, which was one of the most famous Swedish authors of the detective genre. Their 2004 debut novel, The Monster, was awarded the Swedish Glass Key Prize in 2005. In total, they published six novels in a series about Commissioner Ewert Grens, translated into twenty languages and filmed on Swedish television. The Three Seconds novel received the Crime Writers 'Award from the Swedish Academy in 2009 and The Great Readers' Prize in 2010 as the best crime novel [1] .
In 2015, Helström was diagnosed with lymphoma [2] .
In January 2017, he said in an interview that he had found clinics in Cuba and Mexico, where alternative cancer treatments are used, and does not lose hope of recovery. However, for treatment abroad, about 100 thousand or 200 thousand dollars were required, and Helstrom's friend Patrick Pelosio started a fundraising campaign on his Facebook [3] .
On February 17, 2017, the president of officially confirmed the fact of Helstrom’s death from cancer [4] .
