Biography
As a child, Maria was a very frail, sickly child. Because of this, her mother, a high-class programmer, had to quit her job and deal only with her daughter, and the whole family lived on the modest salary of dad, a mechanical engineer. The doctor recommended solving serious problems with the spine with gymnastics [2] . And Maria began to engage in rhythmic gymnastics , at the age of 9 she concentrated on choreography classes. In 1997-1998 ( in the years of study? ) She danced on the stage of the Lviv Opera and Ballet Theater . Then she studied at the Ballet Conservatory of St. Pölten (Austria).
In 2002, she participated in New York in the Youth America Grand Prix dance competition and won a gold medal in the senior group among girls [3] .
At the end of her studies in St. Pölten, she was accepted into the troupe of the Boris Eifman Ballet Theater (St. Petersburg). In 2005, she got the main role in Eifman ’s ballet Anna Karenina . In 2006 , she was awarded the Golden Mask Theater Award for her performance of this part.
Personal life
Maria is married to businessman Oleg Kalugin. They bring up three children [4] .
