The village of Aleksandrovka was founded by the Don Ataman Alexei Ivanovich Ilovaysky . The Ilovaysky estate, located in a beautiful place along the Mius River, quickly became upset and rich. In 1807, after the death of the chieftain, in honor of his guardian angel the Monk Alexy, his wife laid the one-throne church in the name of Alexy, the man of God, who was consecrated in 1811.
The church was stone, with a large apse , with a lowered drum and a tin dome ; The small bell tower adjoining it had three tiers, the upper one with four large openings. The temple survived the October Revolution and the Civil War . The St. Alexis Church was closed in the 1930s , and grain was stored in it. During World War II , the church housed a camp for Soviet prisoners of war. Under the church walls was the burial of German soldiers, a plate with an inscription in German was preserved.
With the collapse of the USSR , they decided to restore the church, since it did not suffer much. In 1994, priest Andrei Ermolaev was appointed rector of the church. In 2007, plastering and painting works were carried out, the roof was painted, floors and window frames were repaired. In 2008, a belfry of six bells was installed. The temple is gasified; in 2009, plastic windows were inserted, doors were replaced. A Sunday school has opened in the parish.
The abbot of the church is currently Priest Andrei Viktorovich Ermolaev.
