Buziktobe

Buziktobe - early medieval (1-15 cc.) City. The remains of Buziktobe were found on the banks of the Bugun River , near the north-western outskirts of the Shilik aul in the Turkestan Region . Appeared as a settlement of farmers. In 6-8 centuries. formed as a city. In written sources describing the events of the late 14th - early 15th century, it is called Shilik. In the writings of the medieval author, al-Maqdisi was mentioned as a large shopping center. He ceased to exist in the 1st half of the 15th century. It was first examined by the Turkestan archaeological expedition in 1951 (leader A.N. Bernshtam ). In 1970, the Otyrar archeological expedition ( KA Akishev ) excavated . The mound consists of three parts: the citadel (fortress), shakhristan (the residence of the ruler and nobility) and the slave (artisan district). The central ruins have the form of an oval mound in plan, 300 meters in length from east to west, 190 meters from south to north. The citadel was in the southern part. In the topography of the citadel hill there are two entrances: from the south-west and from the south-east. Entrances are connected through the street. Along the perimeter of Shahristan surrounded by a wall. Visible remains of walls and towers. A ditch 10–12 m wide, 1–1.5 m deep is traced around the wall. The slab structures, judging by the nature of the mounds, were rectangular in plan residential tracts divided by streets and lanes. During the excavation, fragments of pottery, glass objects, and coins were found.
