Biography
Vera Malinovskaya was born in Kiev in 1900. In her youth, she studied ballet, then made her film debut in 1924 in the film “Joy to All,” where her role was episodic. However, the very next year, the role in the film "College Recorder" based on Pushkin 's novel " Station Warden " brought Malinowski popularity and universal recognition.
Malinovskaya’s film career was bright and short-lived, in all, the actress starred in eleven films and stopped acting in the late 1920s. However, its popularity in the USSR during the NEP was very high. Along with actresses such as Anna Stan , Olga Zhizneva and Anel Sudakevich , Malinovskaya was the "star" of Soviet silent cinema.
In 1925, Malinovskaya took part in the film “ Bear Wedding ” based on the novel by Prosper Merimee “ Lokis ”, on the adaptation of which the People's Commissar of Education Anatoly Vasilievich Lunacharsky worked.
In 1927, Malinovskaya played herself (a cameo ) in the silent comedy film “ Kiss of Mary Pickford ” [1] . Mary Pickford herself (who also played herself in the film [1] ) upon her return to the USA noted in an interview [2] :
In Russia, I met a charming young Russian "star" - a tall girl with long blonde hair. She was the heroine of the best picture that I saw there - "College Registrar." It is possible that she will come to America with the assistance of Douglas and mine. Needless to say how she wants it.
In 1928, Malinovskaya, with the permission of the Soviet government, took part in the filming of the German historical film Waterloo , which was released the following year. Malinovskaya, apparently dreaming of leaving the USSR for several years, decided to stay in Germany, becoming a “non-returner”. Subsequently, she played in another German historical film “Schönbrunn Favorite” and ended her film career at that.
Malinovskaya spent most of her life in Germany and Italy. During World War II, Malinowska helped to escape from the Nazis, Erich Maria Remarque and his wife, with whom she was friendly [1] .
In 1979, Malinovskaya visited the USSR as a guest at the XI Moscow International Film Festival .
Vera Malinovskaya died in Monaco in 1988.
