Born in 1928 in a peasant family in one of the villages of the modern Krasnodar Territory .
In the 1950s he went to the development of virgin and fallow lands in the Kazakh SSR. He worked as a tractor driver at the state farm named after Dzhangildin of the Kustanai region. He later led the tractor driver brigade.
The team of Ivan Ryzhov in 1956 harvested a high grain crop. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 11, 1957, he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal “ Hammer and Sickle ” [1] for particularly outstanding successes achieved in the development of virgin and fallow lands and the high yield.
