History
Presumably the mosque was built in 1287-1888. Money for its construction (2000 dinars) ten years before that was allocated by the Sultan of Egypt, Beibars I , because he wanted to mark his birthplace. Only fragments of the Baybars mosque have survived to this day. Rectangular in plan, it measures 20 to 15 meters in plan. Material - local boot . According to Peter Keppen , the walls of the Baybars mosque "were covered with marble , and the top with porphyry ." The historian Arseniy Markevich noted the structural features of the structure: "these ruins, attracting attention with the height of the arches and the massive walls with buttresses, can hold on for a long time." At the end of the 18th century, the now-lost minaret was still preserved (its image is on the picture of Mikhail Ivanov).
