Boris Nikolaevich Ryzhenko (born 1935) is a Soviet and Russian geochemist , laureate of the A.P. Vinogradov Prize (2005), and F.P. Savarensky Prize (2016).

Biography
Boris Ryzhenko was born in 1935.
In 1958, he graduated from the chemistry department of Moscow State University. Thesis “Synthesis and decomposition of chrysoberyl” was carried out under the guidance of A. V. Novoselova . During his studies, he participated in geological expeditions in the Urals (1956) and Central Asia (1958).
In 1958, he was assigned to the Institute of Geochemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Irkutsk), where he took part in field work in Transbaikalia in 1959-1961.
From 1961 to 1964, he completed and defended a Ph.D. thesis on the measurement of the ionization of a number of inorganic acids at hydrothermal parameters at the GEOKHI of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
From 1968 to 1980 - worked at the Department of Geochemistry of Moscow State University.
In 1978, at the Geoha Academy of Sciences of the USSR, he defended his doctoral dissertation, topic: “Thermodynamics of equilibria in hydrothermal solutions”.
He works at the V.I.Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences .
Scientific and social activities
Scientific interests: development of physical and chemical foundations of hydrothermal and hydrogeochemical processes; kinetics and thermodynamic analysis of mineral equilibria, computer simulation of "rock-water systems".
As part of a team of authors, he participated in the preparation of a critical summary of the thermodynamic characteristics of inorganic substances (G. B. Naumov, B. N. Ryzhenko, I. L. Khodakovsky. Handbook of thermodynamic quantities (for geologists). M: Atomizdat. 1971)
As part of a group of scientists, he identified factors that determine the composition of the main geochemical types of natural waters (S.R. Krainov, B.N. Ryzhenko, V.M. Shvets. Groundwater hydrogeochemistry. Theoretical, applied and environmental aspects. M.: Science. 2004).
As part of a group of scientists, a number of hydrothermal systems of tin and uranium, hydrogenated ore formation of zinc, lead, antimony, arsenic were simulated; A series of experimental measurements of the thermodynamic properties of tin, titanium, zirconium, and uranium compounds was carried out under the conditions of a controlled redox environment (publications in Geochemistry and Geology of Ore Deposits).
Teaching activities
- 1978-1980 - professor of geochemistry at Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia)
- 2007-2009 - giving a course of lectures on the modeling of hydrogeochemical processes at the Russian State Humanitarian University named after S. Ordzhonikidze (Moscow)
