Biography
Son of a priest He studied at the Tambov Theological School; then - in the Tambov Theological Seminary , after which in 1853 he entered the medical faculty of Moscow University . He graduated from the course (1858) with the degree of doctor with honors and was left at the university as an assistant of the faculty therapeutic clinic, specializing in the department of pure pathology and therapy. After defending his doctoral dissertation (1861), "On the suffering of the skin caused by the vegetable parasite Trichophyton tonsurans" was sent for two years abroad, where he visited Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Paris.
From 1865 - Associate Professor , then Extraordinary (1865) and Ordinary Professor (1869) of the Department of Private Pathology and Therapy of the Medical Faculty of Moscow University; in 1868–1870 headed the department. Read courses of cutaneous and syphilitic diseases, as well as theoretical therapy. The main scientific work (doctoral dissertation) was devoted to ringworm ; Matchersky proved his infectious origin and the etiological role of trihofiton .
