Biography
Born on August 16, 1944 in Uman ( Cherkasy region ) in a family of workers. At 12 he was left without a father, and at 15 he was left without a mother. After graduating from high school he worked as a mechanic at the factory.
Service in the Navy of the USSR and Ukraine
- In 1962 he began service in the Navy of the USSR.
- In 1967 he graduated from the Kirov Caspian Higher Maritime School in Baku.
- In the years 1973-1974 - a student of the special order of Lenin classes of the Navy in Leningrad.
- In 1977 he was appointed commander of a strategic nuclear submarine missile cruiser.
- In 1982-1984 he studied at the Naval Academy. A. Grechko in Leningrad.
- In July 1984 he was appointed commander of the 41st division of missile nuclear submarine cruisers.
- In October 1990, he was appointed commander of the 3rd flotilla of nuclear submarine cruisers of the Northern Fleet.
- In 1992 he became vice-admiral .
- From October 8, 1993 to October 28, 1996 he was commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Navy.
- On October 28, 1996, he was dismissed from his post and transferred to the disposal of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
- In August 1998, he retired.
Retired
After retiring he settled in Kiev . Since 2001, the Ukrainian Maritime Party . He was a corresponding member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine.
He died on January 23, 2017. He was buried in Kiev at the Lukyanovsky military cemetery .
