Geography
The village of Chusovoy of the municipality of the “ Shali Urban District ” is located 32 kilometers east-northeast of the village of Shalya (42 km along the highway), mainly on the left bank of the Chusovaya River, at the mouth of the left tributary of the Shaitanka River. In the vicinity of the village on the Chusovaya River there are rock outcrops, geomorphological and botanical natural monuments - Shilo, Mosin, Gardym, Shaitan and Mogilny stones [2] .
History
Shaitan Ironworks
The settlement arose at a sawmill, built in 1721. In 1727, Akinfiy Demidov founded the Shaitan Ironworks , which began forging iron by remaking Upper Tagil cast iron. The original name of the settlement was Staro-Shaytansky Zavod. In 1905, the plant was closed. A highway was laid along the dam, the drain was filled up, the canal was drained. In place of the gateway, arranged in the canal, there were remains of logs. A new gutter from the pond is set aside through the spillway shaft at the foot of the dam [2] .
Staroshaytanskaya marina
In the village there was Staroshaytanskaya marina, from which cricket iron was transported from the Shaitan ironworks to the Sylvensky plant , forged and returned back to the marina, from which iron was melted, including from Nevyansk , Verkh-Neivinsky , Rezhevsky and Verkh-Isetsky plants. To date, a canal with a width of 15 meters and a length of 200 meters has been preserved, along which loaded barges were lowered from the Shaitan pond to the Chusovaya river. Due to the laying of the West Ural Railway in 1915, the alloy of iron caravans was stopped [2] .
- Post-war years
In Soviet times, a dairy farm and a tractor workshop worked in the village. In 1958, in the building of the caravan chief and factory manager, on the initiative of V. A. Semenov and M. V. Mezenina, a rural art gallery was opened [2] .
Church of the Nativity of Christ
In 1840, a wooden, single-throne church was built, which was consecrated in 1840 in honor of the Nativity of Christ. The church was closed in 1937. In 1998, the Orthodox parish was restored [2] .
