Ashchegul is a village in the Mikhailovsky District of the Altai Territory of Russia . The administrative center and the only settlement of the village Ašchegulsky .

History
The settlement was founded by Estonians (estas) and Latvians from Tobolsk Province in 1889. The following year, they were joined by 4 families from the neighboring village and 15 families from the Poltava and Voronezh provinces . At the time of the census, the village belonged to the Pokrovskaya volost of the Barnaul district , there were 60 households in it.
According to the composition of the inhabitants, the village was divided into 3 groups: 9 well-to-do families of Estonians and Latvians, 15 families - the Molokans and the most numerous group (and the poorest) - the Little Russians. In the village there were no trades, residents engaged in tillage and cattle breeding. There was a petty shop, trade was conducted by visiting merchants, barter took place during the fairs in Volchikha , Borovoy and Pavlodar [2] .
In 1928, the village of Aschegul consisted of 364 farms, the main population being Ukrainians. The center of the Ashchegulsky village council of the Mikhailovsky District of the Slavgorod District of the Siberian Territory [3] .

Infrastructure
LLC "Ashchegulskoe": the cultivation of grain, leguminous, oilseeds and tubers, potatoes. SEC (collective farm) "Ashchegulsky" also grows large cattle. The village has a school, kindergarten, shops, there is a FAP and a post office [9] .
