Creativity
Maxim Bashev is an avant-garde artist working in mixed media.
Among the authors who influenced the formation of creativity, he highlights: Salvador Dali , Jean-Michel Basquiat , Keith Haring , Jean Dubuffet , Robert Rauschenberg , Say Twombly .
One of the features of Maxim Bashiev’s creative manner is the integration of photo portraits (Bashov creates them himself) in picturesque
works.
In the In Vogue project, the artist turns to the aesthetics of fashion photography “In canvases made in mixed media, Bachev looks at fashion from an unusual angle. Leading fashion industry professionals have been involved in the production of magazines such as Vogue, Elle and L'Officiel. The best examples of the product that they created can undoubtedly be considered works of art ” [1] .
“Ironizing over ready-made works, Maxim Bachev creates his own art. The images of the glossy world, placed in a new context, change their original meaning. Looking at fashion, the artist offers the viewer a more lively version of her perception” [2] .
Another feature of the author’s work is the appeal to the great masterpieces of the past, placing their stories in their works. The author himself calls such works "remakes of the past."
“The moments of ethnic plastics in Maxim Bashiev, just as in urban subcultures, combine modernity with history and mythology. Bachev incorporates historical images into modern contexts and pulls modern images into mythological stories. Time is experienced as a historical singularity ” [3] .
Art critic Alexander Evangeli [4] : “The works of Maxim Bashiev can be considered as a form of neo-dada practice. His paintings are inspired by the underground culture in the dialogue with which they were created. In this culture, aesthetic terror is reflected in relation to a society that strives for a quiet routine. Energetic and sometimes provocative images remind viewers about socio-political issues. Bachev’s work is a brutal art practice that destroys any genre boundaries ” [2] .
