Magdeev, Muhammet Sungatovich

Muhammet Magdeev was supposedly born in late November and early December 1929 in the village of Guburchak, Arsky district of the TASSR in the family of a rural teacher (former mullah). In 1944 he graduated from a seven-year school and in 1947, the Arsk Pedagogical College (now the Ard Pedagogical College named after Gabdulla Tukay). After graduation, he worked as a senior pioneer leader in high school for a year, then in 1948-1950 he taught history at a seven-year school. He served in the Baltic Fleet in 1950-1954. After returning from service, he entered the historical department of Kazan State Pedagogical Institute, in 1955-1960 he worked as a teacher in various rural schools. In 1960, he entered Kazan State University in graduate school at the Department of Tatar Literature, which he successfully graduated in 1964 , defended his dissertation on the topic "Tatar Soviet literary criticism (1917-1932)." He worked as an assistant, then as a senior teacher, and since 1968 as an assistant professor . He worked at Kazan State University for over 30 years. Since 1961, a member of the CPSU .

Muhammet Magdeev died on June 14, 1995.

During his postgraduate studies, he was engaged in the history of Tatar public thought, Tatar literary criticism, oral folklore, and studies of the life and work of forgotten Tatar scholars, writers, public figures, clergymen, etc. forbidden during the years of Stalinism. Even then, his numerous articles appeared in the press, written with the widespread involvement of archival materials and unknown publications in the periodical press of past years, as well as materials received by Magdeev as a result of personal conversations with family members of repressed scholars and writers.

At the same time he is engaged in literary work. The first widely known works of Magdeev appeared in print in 1968. Even his every new work became a notable event in Tatar literature.

Magdeev also tried himself as a playwright. In 1983, the comedy “Three Restless Days” was staged at the Tatar Mobile Theater (now the Tatar Theater of Drama and Momedia named after K. Tinchurin) .

M. Magdeev was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR" in 1983.

The works “A man leaves - the song remains”, “Where the cranes nest” and “Farewell”, included in the collection “Farewell” (1990), were awarded the State Prize. Tukay. In 1993, Magdeev was awarded the title "People's Writer of Tatarstan" ^[1]
