Riflin began his professional career in his native Seattle; in 1975, he played for The Telepaths, which played at least two concerts on The Tupperwares, the predecessor of [2] . From among the members of The Telepaths, the group The Blackouts subsequently arose [3] [4] . As part of the latter, Riflin played along with vocalist and guitarist Erich Werner, bassist Mike Davidson, and saxophonist’s keyboard player Roland Barker [3] ; ibid Riflin later met Roland's brother , replacing Davidson with a bass guitar [5] , and later with the frontman of the Ministry Al Jorgensen ; after the collapse of The Blackouts, the latter invited Barker and Riflin to the concert line-up [4] .

Having first participated in the recording of the second single of Revolting Cocks - “You Often Forget” of 1986, Riflin became a member of the recording of the breakthrough album for the Ministry of The Land of Rape and Honey . Riflin's subsequent collaboration with the Ministry and their third-party projects lasted until the mid-1990s; despite this, Riflin notes that he was never listed as a member of the Ministry in their releases during this period, but only as an “additional” musician [5] ; accordingly, when he broke up with Ministry on the recording of the album Filth Pig , he did not leave the group because he was not a member of it [5] . At the same time, Riflin met drummer Martin Atkins , who toured with the Ministry at concerts in support of The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste album, as well as with his label colleague Wax Trax! Records by ; along with the latter, Riflin became the co-founder of the Pigface team [6] ; with Connelly Riflin collaborated more than once in the subsequent period.

Also in Seattle, Riflin has collaborated with a number of other influential musicians: Robert Fripp and Trey Gann from King Crimson , from , Sasha Konetsko from KMFDM and Peter Buck from REM . Fripp and Gunn became partners in the recording of Riflin's debut solo album - the Birth of a Giant 1999; The improvisations recorded at the Birth of a Giant sessions were included on the next album, The Repercussions of Angelic Behavior , released the same year.

Riflin regularly appeared on KMFDM albums in the period 1995-2003, acting as a drummer, keyboardist, programmer and backing vocalist; during the 2002 tour in support of the album Attak, he performed as a bass player; in 2011 he took part in the recording of the album WTF? [7] .

Riflin constantly collaborated with Swans , starting with the 1995 album The Great Annihilator [8] ; collaboration continued after the revival of the group in 2010; on the booklet of their 2012 album The Seer , Riflin is noted as “Honorary Swan” ( English Honorary Swan ) [9] .

In September 2013, Robert Fripp announced in his blog a new composition of King Crimson, which included Riflin in the position of drummer (along with Gavin Harrison and Pat Mastelotto ) [10] . Shortly after the release of the first King Crimson concert release featuring Riflin - the album Live in Toronto - Fripp reported in his blog about Riflin’s departure from group activities - “a decision supported by all the Crimson Brothers” [11] . Later in early 2017, Fripp announced Riflin’s return to the line-up, along with who replaced him; according to Fripp, Riflin will focus more on keyboards than on drums [12] .
