Minamoto-no Yoshiye ( Japanese 源 義 家 , 1041 - 1108 ) - Japanese samurai , an outstanding commander. For his courage and talents he was called Hachiman Taro ( я 幡 太郎 Hachiman Taro:) , that is, a favorite of Hachiman , the Shinto god of war.

Biography

He studied the work of Chinese military theorists. Participated in the Gosannen War . Kanazawa took the fortress, which, however, brought him not fame, but a reputation as an unreliable figure, since the campaign, apparently, was carried out without the sanction of the center. He spent his last years in Kyoto , trying to regain his political influence. He enjoyed the reputation of a skilled commander and a brave man, loved his soldiers, even warming them with his body in the cold. In the war he distinguished the brave men, seating them in a place of honor, while the cowards were destined for his table "place of the coward." He was loved by the troops and respected by contemporaries. His courage and leadership talent are described in the chronicle “Osu Gosannen Ki”.

Family

Son of Yoriyoshi (988-1075), governor of Mitsu province. I had a wife. His own son Yoshitika in 1108 raised an anti-government rebellion, but was defeated by the troops of the Tara clan, which led to the fall of the influence of the Minamoto clan [1] .
