History
The construction of the Church of St. George in the Karpovsky Farm was started in the spring of 1914.
At the end of the 19th century, five hundred meters from the village of Kumshatskaya , the construction of a bridge over the Kumshak River was underway. The bridge was built from reinforced concrete by an Italian company. Local Cossacks agreed with the Italians to help build a church using the new technology in the Karpovsky farm. The project of the temple was made, materials - cement and metal were supplied by Italian builders, the stone was brought from Novocherkassk and crushed in a farm.
During construction, cast casting technology was used.
The temple was built in almost six months, and on December 9, 1914 it was consecrated. The walls of the new temple were painted.
Services in the church of St. George the Victorious were conducted daily. There were many parishioners, they also came from neighboring farms, and for a week they lived in a farm. The farm hosted fun fairs with swings and carousels.
In the 30s of the XX century the temple was closed, and its values were seized.
During the Great Patriotic War, 1942-1943, the Romanian occupiers occupied the farm. During these years, the temple was opened, services were held there, and children were baptized.
After the farm was liberated, the temple was destroyed, and his priest was killed. The priest was buried at the right choir of the church. In the 50-80s, the temple was used as a granary, its walls were whitewashed.
In 1995, with the participation of the parish of the Church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul in Volgodonsk (Priest Alexander Koldorkin), restoration work began on the church. The altar was restored, a wooden log house was mounted in the reinforced concrete frame of the church, so that services could be held. Roof repair work was carried out, which was disrupted in 1992 by a strong wind.
To coordinate the restoration of the church, a board of trustees was created, which included Bishop Cornodius of Volgodonsk and Salsk .
