Legends and Traditions

Una Nana and the Ingush

Once she was angry with the Ingush and decided to destroy them all. She sent cholera to them and destroyed everyone, leaving only a boy in one house and a girl in another. From them modern Ingushs also originate [4] .

Myalhists and U-nana

U-nana spread the disease. Myalhystins prayed in Doge. People from five villages gathered there for prayer. Once people gathered, prepared a lot of food and drink, and prayed for rain. When they were eating, one tall woman came up to them with a bag thrown over her shoulder. People did not know who she was. They put fat meat in front of her.

“The meat is too fat, I can’t eat it,” said the stranger.

They put lean meat in front of her.

- This meat is lean and seems spoiled, I can’t eat it.

Mixed fat with skinny and put in front of her. She began to eat with appetite and after eating said three prayers. It rained three times. Then she became in the middle of Doge. It was U-nana: she put her hand in her bag, took a handful of illness, and threw it away. All the people in Doga, where the diseases fell, died. In my memory, the Doge village became deserted, empty. U-nana decided that the worshipers did not accept her very well, and therefore sent diseases to them [1] .
