History

The name is along the Izberdeyka River. Previously, the village was part of the Kozlovsky district of the Tambov province . It was founded by immigrants from Kozlov shortly before revision I of 1719, in which the village is already referred to as Izberdy. Among the first inhabitants are Rodion Kochergin, Ivan Rodionov, Nikita Varopaev, Trofim Alymov, Ananiy Molchanov, as well as landowners Ivan Martynov, son Zhikharev, Ivan Ivanov son Evsyukov, Nikita Sidorov son Voropaev. By the efforts of the first settlers, who also ceded part of their allotments under church lands, in 1734 a wooden church was built here in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, but already in 1737 it burned down. Only a few years later a new church was erected in the village, which apparently existed until 1810, when a new wooden church was built, which, in turn, stood until 1874. Obviously, since 1810 the church has been called Kazan; until 1810 - it is also possible (see below for information on the village of Izberdeyka).

Due to the proximity of the road from Kozlov to Lipetsk and Voronezh, the village is rapidly developing both in the 18th and 19th centuries. According to the 4th revision of 1782, 130 single-palaces and 327 serfs already live in the village; in 1858 - 216 state peasants, 107 serfs and 59 temporarily liable; in 1878, the population of Small Izberdey was already 551 people.

Due to population growth in the village in 1874, at the expense of the merchant Mironov, a new, instead of the old since 1810, and more spacious two- throne cold wooden church in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God (on the main throne, "in the present") with the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (throne in the refectory). In 1884, a stone house church with one throne was consecrated - the truncation of the head of John the Baptist. The Kazan Church was the main one, with it attributed: in the village. Sergievsky Troitskaya (stone, built in 1824, a chapel alone in the name of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and in the Sovalovo village of Pokrovskaya (wooden, built in 1866). The names of clergymen are known: priest Timofei Tikhonovich Blagonravov (ordained in 1836), priest Alex. Euph. Arkhangelsk (ordained in 1866), priest Ant. Euse. Matveev (ordained in 1868), churchwarden at the Kazan Church Lipetsk merchant Mironov (since 1861). There were seven villages in the parish: Cheglovka, Elagina, Fominovka, Snezhkov, Karandeyev, Khrapov and Gremuchka.

Apparently, by the middle-end of the XVIII century, the name “Small” was added to the name “Izberdy”, so as not to be confused with the Big Izberye. At the same time, in the inventory No. 3 of the fund No. 1049 of the State Archive of the Tambov Region metric books of the Kazan Church of the village “Izberdeyka” are stored at the end of the 18th century and there are no books of the Small Izberdey during this time. A comparison of the composition of the landowners, as well as the absence of any mention of such a village on old maps, clearly indicates the identity of the villages. It should be noted that this fact, as well as the omission of the prefix "Big" in the name of the Big Izberdey in a number of metric books and, finally, the presence of Kazan churches both in the Big and Small Oberdery, can cause difficulties in the genealogical search. This led to the fact that in many sources the village of Bolshaya Izberdey was indicated as the possible birthplace of the famous memoirist Stepan Petrovich Zhikharev or his stay in 1818-1823, while the Zhikharevs never existed in this village; in Maly Izberdera, the landowners of the Zhikharevs lived from the base of the village, and there was also the family tomb of the Zhikharevs.

By the end of the 19th century, there were two schools in wooden buildings in the Small Izberdeya: the parish church (literacy school) and the zemstvo.
